Ministry of Emergency Situations and UN WFP identify cooperation priorities for near future

Bishkek, Nov. 14, 2025. /Kabar/. A working meeting was held at the Ministry of Emergency Situations' Central Office between Kanat Karybai uulu, Head of the Ministry's International Cooperation Department, and Pataui Chotkirativech, a representative of the World Food Programme's Asia-Pacific Regional Hub.

Representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the UN WFP participated in the meeting, including program managers and specialists responsible for implementing joint projects in the areas of disaster risk prevention and reduction, humanitarian preparedness, and climate change adaptation.

The meeting focused on reviewing current collaboration and identifying priorities for the near future. It was noted that, within the framework of the WFP Country Strategic Plan for 2023–2027, a range of initiatives aimed at strengthening community resilience to natural disasters is being implemented. These include the launch of gabion mesh production in the regions, support for the Ministry of Emergency Situations' logistics infrastructure, the implementation of the INFORM risk assessment model at the local level, the development of anticipatory measures, and the modernization of warehouse infrastructure for humanitarian reserves.

The parties also discussed prospects for further expansion of cooperation, including the use of geoinformation solutions and the PRIZM platform, the scaling up of the INFORM risk index assessment to other regions, the development of proactive action programs in mountainous areas, the strengthening of local climate risk warning systems, and the improvement of mechanisms for the pre-positioning of individual food packages for vulnerable groups.

The high practical significance of the ongoing joint projects and the high level of trusting interaction were emphasized. Representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations noted the promptness and coordination of WFP's actions in crisis situations and expressed their readiness to continue coordinating humanitarian and development initiatives at the national level.

Representatives of the WFP Asia Pacific Regional Hub thanked the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic for their constructive cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the technical and institutional capacity of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as adapting future programs to the strategic priorities of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Following the talks, the parties agreed to continue jointly developing proposals for the development of current and new projects, and to consider holding an additional technical session with donors and partners to discuss risk management practices, forestry issues, climate services, and the development of local warning systems.
