Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Brussels holds meeting with Kyrgyz diaspora from Benelux countries

Bishkek, May 3, 2025. /Kabar/. On May 31, 2025, in Brussels, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Kingdom of Belgium held a meeting with compatriots, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Kyrgyz statehood, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported.
The event was attended by representatives of the Kyrgyz diaspora in the Benelux countries, as well as invited guests - representatives of international organizations, business circles, and the media.
In his welcoming speech, Ambassador A.Erkin emphasized the strength and resilience of the Kyrgyz people, who have endured numerous trials while preserving their statehood, cultural identity, and national unity. The event highlighted the role of prominent intellectuals of the early 20th century - A. Sydykov, I. Arabayev, Zh. Abdrakhmanov, A. Orozbekov, K. Tynystanov, I. Aidarbekov, T. Aitmatov, and others - who laid the foundation of the modern Kyrgyz state.
Special attention was given to the achievements of the Kyrgyz Republic in recent years and the country’s dynamic development under the leadership of President Sadyr Zhaparov.
In this context, the focus was also placed on the national initiative «#Үлгүлүүкыргыз / #ҮлгүлүүКыргызстан», aimed at promoting a positive image of Kyrgyz citizens abroad and strengthening the unity among compatriots.
As part of the cultural program, guests were presented with the feature film «Саманчынын жолу» (“The Mother's Field”), based on the novel of the same name by Chyngyz Aitmatov. The film explores the tragedy of war, the power of maternal love, and the resilience of the human spirit - key traits of the Kyrgyz character.
A traditional Kyrgyz dastorkon added to the atmosphere of unity, which was reflected in the participants’ positive feedback and social media posts following the event.
