ICDO session discussed the Kyrgyz side's project to create a humanitarian center

Bishkek, July 11, 2025. /Kabar/. The delegation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic headed by Minister Boobek Azhikeev took part in the regular 58th session of the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO) Executive Council and the extraordinary 3rd session of the ICDO General Assembly.

According to the department, the sessions were held from July 8 to 10 in Baku.

During the meetings, financial, administrative and legal issues of the ICDO activities were discussed, and elections of the Secretary General of the International Civil Defense Organization were held, following which the candidacy of the Head of the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan Arguj Kalantarli was elected by a majority of votes.

As part of the events, a meeting was held between Minister Boobek Azhikeev and Minister of Emergency Situations of Russia Alexander Kurenkov, during which current issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of emergency prevention and response were discussed.

In order to improve cooperation, demonstrate examples of successful international interaction within the ICDO and strengthen the civil defense potential, the Kyrgyz side presented a project for the construction of a humanitarian training center as a regional platform for all of Central Asia worth 4 billion rubles and voiced a request to consider the possibility of its support from the International Civil Defense Organization through a voluntary targeted contribution from Russia to the ICDO fund.

In turn, the Russian side expressed its readiness to consider this initiative.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached between the parties to continue active work to strengthen the security and protection of the population of Kyrgyzstan and Russia, the ministry said.
