Bishkek, April 7, 2025. /Kabar/. The speech of the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov at the Central Asia - European Union summit in Samarkand aroused interest among the expert community, Azamat Seitov, Professor of the Institute of International Prospective Studies of the University of International Economics and Diplomacy in Tashkent, Doctor of Sociological Sciences told Kabar.
He said that the Central Asian countries particularly noted the president's statements that deepening cooperation with immediate neighbors is one of the main priorities of the country's foreign policy. "This approach to foreign policy is important, especially given the geographical position of Kyrgyzstan in our common region. This foreign policy of Bishkek strengthens the atmosphere of stability and helps reduce the risks associated with possible external threats," the expert said.
In his opinion, strengthening ties between the Central Asian countries also opens up opportunities for more coordinated political coordination. "It is necessary, since all our countries face similar challenges. I would highlight the problems of water resources, climate change, uncontrolled migration flows and others. Obviously, joint efforts to solve them will lead to more effective policies in the international arena," the professor noted.
Azamat Seitov expressed confidence that this approach is also important for deepening economic integration, since this will lead to improved conditions for trade and investment flows, as well as to the creation of joint projects. It is clear that this will accelerate economic growth and strengthen the position of the region as a whole in the world market.
"And, in conclusion, I will express my opinion regarding the growing interest of external players such as the EU, China, Russia and the USA. In my opinion, Kyrgyzstan, interacting with the EU, views this through the prism of strengthening relations with neighbors. I would highlight the opinion that strengthening ties with the EU through economic cooperation and political dialogue can be beneficial for regional integration. This means that this reflects the interests of the Central Asian countries in the search for new foreign economic and political guidelines,” the expert emphasized.
“President Sadyr Zhaparov’s speech at the Samarkand EU-CA reflects Kyrgyzstan’s pragmatic approach to foreign policy. It is significant that it is focused on creating stable and mutually beneficial relations with neighboring states. In my opinion, this is another important step to ensure long-term security and sustainable development of the region,” Professor Seitov concluded.
