Bishkek, Oct. 31, 2025 /Kabar/. Over the next five years, Kyrgyzstan has every opportunity to transform into a transport, strategic, trade, and logistics hub of Eurasia, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Bakyt Torobaev, stated while speaking at National Development Forum 2030.

According to Torobaev, by 2030 the volume of railway freight traffic could reach 15 million tons, and the total area of logistics centers and warehouses to 1 million square meters, which is ten times more than the current figure.

“The capacity of the main checkpoints will increase 2-3 times. The growth in freight traffic will allow us to triple the share of the transport sector in the GDP structure up to 1.5 billion dollars. Thus, by 2030, Kyrgyzstan will become an integral part of the global supply chain,” Torobaev noted.

To achieve these goals, he said, the priority will be the development of modern transport and logistics corridors. In particular, plans include the implementation of major railway projects:

“China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan”,

“Balykchy – Cholpon-Ata”,

“Kochkor – Kara-Keche – Makmal”.

At the same time, work is underway to modernize and expand the checkpoints "Torugart", "Irkeshtam", "Dostuk", "Kyzyl-Kiya" and "Bedel", as well as to complete the construction of the highways "North – South", "Issyk-Kul – Almaty" and "Barskoon – Bedel".

Bakyt Torobaev also emphasized that for the first time in the history of the Kyrgyz Republic, international airport is being built in Jalal-Abad using domestic resources. In addition, it is planned to open international flights through Kashgar, which will double the number of flights and turn Kyrgyzstan into a center of the Great Silk Road air corridor. "We are confidently moving towards ensuring that by 2030 Kyrgyzstan becomes fully developed transport and logistics hub in the region, connecting East and West, North and South," Torobaev emphasized.
