Bishkek, June 19, 2026 /Kabar/. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States Media Forum is taking place in Issyk-Kul.

About 100 representatives from six SCO member states, including representatives of the Kyrgyz media, are participating in the forum.

The forum was opened by Deputy Chairman of Cabinet of Minister Ulan Mamatkanov, who delivered a welcoming speech.

"Dear heads of delegations, media representatives, experts, ladies and gentlemen!

I am pleased to welcome the participants of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Media Forum. Welcome to our sunny country.

As you know, today's global media landscape is undergoing a major transformation driven by digitalization, the rapid development of information technology, and artificial intelligence.

We live in an era when information spreads almost instantly, shapes public opinion, and influences international processes.

It should be noted that, along with new opportunities, the modern information environment also creates serious challenges. The need to protect national interests, as well as from unreliable information and cybersecurity threats in the context of rapidly evolving technologies, requires us to take a responsible approach, closely collaborate, and develop joint solutions.

Today's forum provides a unique opportunity to discuss current trends in the media sphere, prospects for the implementation of innovative technologies, the role of digital platforms in modern journalism, as well as issues of professional responsibility and adherence to ethical standards in a rapidly changing information landscape.

I am convinced that through the exchange of best practices, the development of professional contacts, and mutual respect, we can create a safe, fair, and sustainable information space.

This forum will be an important step toward consolidating the efforts of the SCO member states to counter information threats, the spread of fake news, and other challenges of the digital age. Joint work between relevant agencies, the expert community, and the media will contribute to strengthening information security and increasing trust between our countries.

Kyrgyz Republic consistently advocates for the development of constructive cooperation in the media sphere, expanding interaction between journalistic communities, implementing modern digital solutions, and strengthening humanitarian ties between the peoples of the SCO member states.

I am confident that the results of the Media Forum will be an important contribution to the further development of information interaction within our Organization, will serve as the basis for new joint initiatives, and will contribute to strengthening an atmosphere of trust, good-neighborliness, and mutual understanding.

Through joint efforts, we can ensure the formation of a healthy information space based on the principles of objectivity, responsibility, respect, and security. "I wish all participants fruitful work, meaningful discussions, new professional contacts, and a successful forum.

Thank you for your attention!" said Mamatkanov.
