Bishkek, May 26, 2025. / Kabar /. Today, there are about 4 thousand mosques in the country, of which 3 thousand 830 have been registered with the stateб Mufti of Kyrgyzstan Abdulaziz Zakirov told.
Since April of this year, imams of officially registered mosques began to receive a monthly stipend of 8 thousand soms.
“At the moment, about 4 thousand mosques operate in our country. Of these, 3,830 are officially registered and continue their activities. We have begun paying stipends to the imams of these mosques. This has become a historic event for the religious sphere of Kyrgyzstan. Previously, imams, especially in the regions and villages, served the people, the country and our religion without any salary, engaging in educational activities. Now the muftiate will transfer stipends every month to support the imams,” noted Mufti Abdulaziz Zakirov.
It is noted that the stipends are paid from the muftiate’s own budget. The goal is to support religious figures, strengthen the spiritual sphere and develop correct religious understanding in society.
