Writers from Kyrgyzstan and China sign cooperation agreement

Bishkek, June 17, 2026 /Kabar/. The National Union of Writers of Kyrgyz Republic held an official meeting with a delegation from the Chinese Writers' Association, headed by its chairman Zhang Hongsen, which also included Nobel Prize laureate in literature Mo Yan, the Writers' Union of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The talks took place at the Writers' House of the Writers' Union with the participation of Kanybek Imanaliev, Chairman of the organization, and Zhang Hongsen, Chairman of the Chinese Writers' Association.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for developing Kyrgyz-Chinese literary ties. The Chinese representatives discussed the development of contemporary Chinese literature, achievements in international literary cooperation, and current trends in the literary process.

Particular attention was paid to expanding cooperation between writers' organizations of the two countries, organizing mutual visits by authors, translating literary works, and implementing joint projects.

Following the meeting, the Writers' Union of Kyrgyzstan and the Chinese Writers' Association signed a cooperation agreement. The parties expressed confidence that the document will contribute to the further strengthening of Kyrgyz-Chinese literary and cultural ties.

The Chinese delegation included former Minister of Culture of the People's Republic of China Wang Meng, Chairman of the Chinese Writers' Association Zhang Hongsen, Head of the Organization's External Relations Department Zhang Hongbing, and Nobel Prize laureate in Literature Mo Yan.
