Bishkek, May 7, 2026 /Kabar/. On May 6, 2026, a ceremony to hand over the "Flame of Memory" took place at the Cholponbai Tuleberdiev monument in the park. The event was attended by Bishkek Mayor Aibek Dzhunushaliev, representatives of public and veterans' organizations, and residents of the city.
The ceremony included a rally and flower-laying ceremony in honor of the heroic deeds of the Great Patriotic War heroes.
The mayor emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory and the continuity of generations.
"Bishkek has always been and remains a city where history is honored, traditions are respected, and the memory of the Great Victory is passed on to the younger generation. We bow our heads to the heroism of the veterans, to those who defended freedom and gave us a peaceful sky. Let the "Flame of Memory" become a symbol of the unity of our peoples, peace, and harmony," the mayor remarked.
During the event, a lamp with the "Flame of Memory" was handed over to the Cholponbay Tuleberdiev Museum.
The event began on May 5th in the Alexander Garden in Moscow. Participants will deliver a piece of the Eternal Flame to 14 countries. Three-time Olympic champion, renowned TV presenter and actress, and Moscow City Duma deputy Maria Kiseleva delivered the "Flame of Memory" to Bishkek.
The event was organized by Rossotrudnichestvo and the public movement "People's Front," with the support of veterans and volunteer organizations.
