Bishkek, Jan. 7, 2026. /Kabar/. As part of the "Illegal" operational and preventive measure, officers from the Bishkek Main Department of Internal Affairs are conducting educational and verification activities aimed at ensuring foreign citizens comply with Kyrgyz migration legislation.
The Bishkek Main Department of Internal Affairs clarifies that foreign citizens are required to carry original identification documents and documents confirming their legal stay in the country at all times, namely: a passport (or other identification document), a valid work or study visa (if required to obtain a visa), and a migration registration document.
Failure to carry these documents will result in their being taken to the police for identification and clarification of the circumstances of their stay. During the raids, more than 35 foreign citizens were taken to the Bishkek Main Department of Internal Affairs for inspection and legal action.
The Bishkek Main Department of Internal Affairs also notes that inviting parties, employers, and educational institutions are not authorized to confiscate or store passports and other personal documents of foreign citizens.
The Bishkek Main Department of Internal Affairs calls on foreign citizens and host parties to strictly comply with the migration laws of the Kyrgyz Republic.
