Bishkek, Jan. 20, 2026. /Kabar/. By 2027, the authorized capital of pawnshops epected to increase at least for 20 million soms, Suyorkul Ashimzhan uulu, chief department specialist at Financial Market Regulation and Supervision Service told Kabar news agency.
According to him, the authorized capital of pawnshops is being gradually increased. In the final stage, in 2022, it was 1 million soms. Effective January 1, 2025, the minimum authorized capital of pawnshops must be at least 3 million soms.
"We plan to further increase the authorized capital of pawnshops in the near future. Effective July 1, 2026, it must be at least 7 million soms. It will then be increased to 14 million soms, and in 2027 to at least 20 million soms. We are currently working on a corresponding project," he noted.
Ashimzhan uulu also emphasized that pawnshops have the right to accept only movable property from citizens. According to the law, pawnshops cannot accept real estate. For example, the law prohibits accepting apartments or land plots as collateral.
"Pawnshops can only accept movable property, such as cars, mobile phones, and gold jewelry, and provide short-term loans," he added.
