Bishkek, Nov. 25, 2025. /Kabar/. Former Foreign Minister Alikbek Dzhekushenkulov stated that strengthening cooperation within the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is essential for maintaining stability in Central Asia, noting that peace in the region directly affects the security of each member state.

According to him, amid continuing global instability, ensuring stability within the CSTO’s area of responsibility remains a key priority. He emphasized that the countries of Central Asia constitute the core of the organization and occupy a strategically important geographic position for the development of the entire Eurasian space.

Dzhekushenkulov noted that for the Central Asian states, the CSTO serves as an important security mechanism, as member countries share common borders and maintain close ties. “For us, preserving peace in the region means peace in our own homes,” he said in comments to Kabar News Agency.

He added that Central Asia is becoming a region of increased attention and economic development, serving as a major crossroads of trade routes and a link connecting numerous countries. At the same time, the establishment of new transport corridors and alternative supply chains for hydrocarbons and energy resources does not meet the interests of all external actors.

In this context, he stressed the need for the CSTO to enhance its ability to respond to contemporary challenges, including terrorism, transnational crime, drug trafficking, and illegal migration.

Dzhekushenkulov stated that the upcoming CSTO summit in Bishkek is of particular importance for determining priorities and discussing collective measures aimed at countering key destabilizing factors. He expressed confidence that the heads of state, taking into account current global processes, will adopt a consolidated position in the declaration to be issued following the meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
