Kabar News Agency and Turkish Embassy discuss developing media cooperation

Bishkek, April 15, 2026 /Kabar/. Director of the Kyrgyz National Kabar News Agency Mederbek Shermetaliev met with Press Attaché of the Turkish Embassy Ramazan Akzeybek to discuss the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the media sector.

Shermetaliev congratulated Akzeybek on his appointment and expressed readiness to strengthen cooperation.

He noted that interaction between the sides remains insufficiently developed and emphasized the need to intensify contacts. Three priority areas were outlined: organizing regular media forums, implementing joint projects, and ensuring systematic exchange of experience. The importance of cooperation within the Organization of Turkic States was also highlighted.

The parties expressed interest in deepening cooperation, including holding media forums aimed at uniting Turkic information resources and protecting their interests, developing cultural tourism potential, and strengthening joint efforts to counter fake news.

Shermetaliev also shared Kyrgyzstan’s experience in combating disinformation and outlined the advantages and risks of using artificial intelligence in the media industry.

Akzeybek expressed interest in resuming active engagement and reaffirmed the Turkish side’s readiness to provide comprehensive support. Particular attention was given to potential joint initiatives in countering fake news and applying AI technologies.

He also praised Kabar’s digital platform, noting its modern format, multilingual content, including Turkish version.

At the end of the meeting, Shermetaliev invited Akzeybek to take part in the SCO Media Forum scheduled to be held in Bishkek in July.

The parties confirmed their intention to further develop partnership and elaborate concrete formats of cooperation.
