KOICA to create genetic research center for farm animals in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Oct. 10, 2025. /Kabar/. Ceremony for the construction of a training center for genomic evaluation of animals and a dormitory will take place on October 22 at the Kyrgyz Institute of Livestock and Pastures in Frunze village.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the ceremony will be attended by Minister of Agriculture Bakyt Toroobaev, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Kyrgyzstan Kim Kwang-jae, as well as representatives of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Korea International Cooperation Program for Agriculture (KOPIA).

The creation of the training center will be an important step in the development of agricultural science and innovation. The new center will be a modern platform for training specialists, conducting research, and implementing biotechnological methods aimed at increasing the productivity and genetic potential of animals.

The project is being implemented with the support of KOICA as part of the "Improving the Genetic Performance of Beef and Dairy Cattle and Building the Capacity of Veterinary Specialists in the Kyrgyz Republic" initiative.

The center's activities are expected to strengthen scientific and agricultural cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the Republic of Korea and make a significant contribution to the development of modern methods for genomic evaluation of animals in the country.
