Bishkek, Aug. 19, 2025 /Kabar/. In the fight for the gold medal, Kyrgyz wrestler Adilet Akylbekov met with a Russian athlete yesterday, August 18.
The State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that in the final fight he lost to his opponent and ultimately took second place, becoming a silver medalist.
Adilet Akylbekov competed in the 74 kg freestyle wrestling category at the World Junior Championships (U-20), which is taking place in Samokov, Bulgaria.
Adilet Akylbekov became the third Kyrgyz freestyle wrestler to win a silver medal at the Junior World Championships. Before him, Tuuganbai uulu Ularbek (in 1997) and Khurshid Parpiev (in 2016) reached the final.
