Kyrgyzstan and Japan expand cooperation in labor migration

Bishkek, April 10, 2026 /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan and Japan are expanding cooperation in labor migration, Minister of Labor Kanat Sagynbaev and Japanese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Ryuichi Hirano.

According to the ministry's press service, the meeting focused on cooperation in legal labor migration. The parties discussed prospects for expanding the participation of Kyrgyz citizens in Japan's skilled labor program, particularly through the Specified Skilled Worker mechanism. They emphasized their mutual interest in diversifying employment sectors, citing healthcare, hotel services, construction, and agriculture as priority areas.

Furthermore, the parties noted the progressive development of Kyrgyz-Japanese relations based on the principles of mutual respect, trust, and partnership. Minister congratulated the Ambassador on the start of his diplomatic mission in Kyrgyzstan and expressed confidence in the further strengthening of bilateral cooperation.

At the same time, Kanat Sagynbaev informed the Ambassador of his upcoming visit to Japan, during which talks with relevant government agencies and Japanese business circles are planned. It is noted that these upcoming contacts will contribute to the deepening of practical interaction, the expansion of institutional cooperation, and the promotion of new joint initiatives.

The parties also emphasized the importance of developing humanitarian and educational ties, noting the strong interest of Kyrgyz citizens in Japanese culture, education, and work ethic.
