Kyrgyzstan and Japan strengthen sports cooperation

Bishkek, Aug. 19, 2025 /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan and Japan are strengthening sports cooperation, the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

According to the agency, Director of the state agency Aibek Abdymomunov received the Japanese delegation on Monday.

The delegation was headed by Mayor of the city of Maizuru Akitsu Kamota. The group also included former member of the Kyrgyzstan-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group Sachiko Horiba, as well as representatives of the cities of Maizuru and Yaizu.

At the meeting, Aibek Abdymomunov noted the active cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Japan in the field of sports. He expressed gratitude to the Japanese side for their contribution to the implementation of joint projects and emphasized their readiness to develop bilateral cooperation in the future.

Mayor Akitsu Kamota noted that his city is one of the centers of wrestling and expressed his readiness to strengthen cooperation aimed at exchanging experience among young wrestlers.

Aibek Abdymomunov confirmed his support for the initiatives of the Japanese delegation and spoke about sports exchanges in the direction of judo. He also noted his readiness to continue organizing joint training camps.

In turn, Akitsu Kamota said that the city of Maizuru, together with the Ministry of Sports of Japan, is ready to consider proposals from the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic regarding the exchange of experience among young people.

Following the meeting, the parties signed an intention to cooperate. The document provides for the exchange of experience among young athletes in the areas of wrestling and judo.
