Bishkek, May 21, 2025 /Kabar/. As part of a working trip to Algeria to participate in the Annual Meeting of the Governors of the Islamic Development Bank Group, First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Daniyar Amangeldiev met with the President of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad.
The Cabinet of Ministers reported that during the meeting the parties discussed a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues of mutual interest, focusing on promising areas of further interaction in the fields of energy, infrastructure and affordable housing. Specific plans for the implementation of joint projects and initiatives aimed at the socio-economic development of the Kyrgyz Republic were discussed.
The fruitful cooperation of the Kyrgyz Republic with the Saudi Fund for Development, based on the principles of mutual respect and trust, was emphasized. It was noted that 11 investment agreements have been signed since 2011 for a total of 333.8 million US dollars, aimed at developing the education, transport, healthcare, agriculture, water supply and housing sectors. Interest was expressed in further expanding the investment portfolio of the SFD in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers noted the sustainable growth rates of the economy of the Kyrgyz Republic over the past three years, amounting to 9%, and emphasized that GDP growth in the first four months of this year reached 11.7%. Positive dynamics were noted in all sectors of the economy, including the service sector and industry, which creates favorable conditions for attracting new investments.
Daniyar Amangeldiev also informed that the adoption of a new National Development Program of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2030 is expected, defining the strategic directions of the country's development aimed at ensuring sustainable economic growth, improving the quality of life of the population and creating favorable conditions for the development of key sectors of the economy. He emphasized that this program opens up new opportunities for cooperation with the SFR and other international partners.
Particular attention was paid to the construction project of Kambarata HPP-1, the implementation of which is a priority in the context of the global trend towards "green" development and growing demand for clean energy.
Daniyar Amangeldiev described this project as transformational, capable of significantly increasing energy supply and supporting the transition to clean energy in the Kyrgyz Republic and Central Asia, outlining its important role in the development of the entire Central Asian region and ensuring its energy security.
The First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers expressed gratitude to the Saudi Fund for Development for supporting housing financing projects, emphasizing that providing the population with affordable housing is one of the priorities of state policy and is under the special control of the Head of State.
Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad emphasized that the Saudi Fund for Development attaches great importance to cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic and is ready to consider the possibility of expanding the investment portfolio, especially in the energy and infrastructure sectors. He expressed confidence in further strengthening bilateral relations and implementing mutually beneficial projects.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to continue active dialogue and close cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
