Kyrgyzstan and Udmurtia increase economic cooperation

Bishkek, May 29, 2025 /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan is ready to expand the supply of its products to the market of the Udmurt Republic, Consul General of the Kyrgyz Republic in Kazan Erik Beishembiev told during official meeting with head of Udmurtia Alexander Brechalov.

The negotiations took place on the territory of the residence of the head of the region in Izhevsk, the press service of the head and government of Udmurtia reported.

"The dynamic growth of trade turnover is convincing evidence of the mutual benefit of our cooperation. I am confident that the implementation of joint projects will bring tangible economic benefits to both parties," Erik Beishembiev noted.

The head of Udmurtia Alexander Brechalov emphasized that over the past three years, the volume of mutual trade has almost tripled, and Kyrgyzstan has entered the top ten key trading partners of Udmurtia. The republic supplies clothing, footwear, electrical appliances and optics, and agricultural machinery, capacitors, leather and glass products, meat, dairy products and beverages are exported.

In addition, the parties discussed the prospects for investment and the launch of joint ventures, including the automotive industry and the supply of metal products to Kyrgyzstan.

Udmurtia's Minister of Economy Anna Slugina presented proposals on the participation of Udmurt companies in the program for the development of small hydropower in Kyrgyzstan, where it is planned to increase the capacity of hydroelectric power plants to 405 MW by 2027.

Following the meeting, issues of expanding humanitarian ties were also touched upon. Bishkek was offered dual degree programs and Russian language courses for foreign students.
