Bishkek, Oct. 17, 2025. /Kabar/. As part of his participation in the Annual Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank Group, Melis Turgunbaev, Chairman of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, met with the management of the Central Bank of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
According to the regulator, the discussion focused on the development of Islamic banking in Kyrgyzstan.
Turgunbaev noted that the NBKR is consistently implementing a policy to create a reliable regulatory and institutional framework for Islamic banking in the country. The Kyrgyz side highly appreciates the Kingdom of Bahrain's contribution to the development of international standards and best practices in this area and expresses its readiness to further deepen cooperation with the Central Bank of Bahrain.
The sides emphasized that, at the current stage, the key priority for further advancement of the sector is the implementation of the necessary monetary policy instruments, including those compliant with Sharia principles, to ensure effective transmission and maintain market liquidity.
Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation, including the exchange of expert expertise and capacity development at the level of relevant departments.
