Bishkek, Jan. 15, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev during a press conference on Tuesday summarizing the results of 2025 told on the situation with Kyrgyz citizens in the United States.
According to him, preliminary data shows that there are approximately 40,000 Kyrgyz citizens in the United States – students and working citizens.
Kulubaev noted that citizens without visas or violating visa requirements may be deported if identified by immigration authorities. In particular, approximately 20 people have already been deported, and approximately 20 more cases are expected. Moreover, if the documents are properly completed, citizens will not experience any problems staying.
The minister also touched on the issue of deposits required by the US for entry. According to Kulubaev, $15,000 is high for Kyrgyz conditions, but it is part of US internal immigration policy.
"We are consulting with the US side to ease the visa regime. We have expressed our wishes and are taking their demands into account," he emphasized.
The minister noted that the US side's main requirement is that citizens who receive a visa promptly complete the necessary documents and comply with the terms of their stay. He emphasized that similar practices are observed in other countries, including Russia, and that Kyrgyzstan is engaged in ongoing negotiations to protect the interests of its citizens.
The foreign minister also reported that the country's agencies continue to work on legalizing citizens abroad and improving consular support.
