Bishkek, Aug. 28, 2025 /Kabar/. The grand opening of the first monotype yacht fleet on Issyk-Kul Lake took place in Cholpon-Ata resort town of Kyrgyzstan on August 26.
Minister of Economy and Commerce of the country Bakyt Sydykov spoke about the importance of the project for the development of the national economy and the tourism sector.
He emphasized that tourism development is one of the strategic areas of the Kyrgyz economy, defined by the National Development Program until 2030.
“The opening of the first yacht fleet on Issyk-Kul is not just a new infrastructure facility. It is a symbol of Kyrgyzstan's movement forward, new opportunities for the economy, society and future generations,” Bakyt Sydykov noted.
The minister said that the implementation of the project is of paramount importance:
development of water sports and mass active recreation;
attracting tourists in the off-season and extending the tourist season;
creation of new jobs and stimulation of business;
formation of a modern international image of Kyrgyzstan;
increasing the investment attractiveness of the region.
He paid special attention to the development of sports culture and the involvement of young people in an active lifestyle. He noted that the creation of infrastructure for sailing will open up new prospects for training athletes and holding international competitions.
Bakyt Sydykov also recalled that in 2025, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce supported the initiative of the Sailing Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic, having considered a proposal to exempt sports equipment, including sailing yachts, from customs duties, as well as to introduce simplified procedures for the temporary import of vessels for participation in international competitions.
In conclusion of his speech, the minister expressed gratitude to Evgeny Kotov and his team for their contribution to the implementation of the project:
"Today we are taking a step into the future. Let this fleet become a symbol of the energy and openness of Kyrgyzstan to the world," Bakyt Sydykov emphasized.
The opening of the yacht fleet has become not only a new stage in the development of the tourism infrastructure of Issyk-Kul, but also an important step in strengthening the position of Kyrgyzstan as a dynamically developing tourist destination, the report said.
