Bishkek, May 28, 2025 /Kabar/. Based on the results of the first months of 2025, Kyrgyzstan once again confirmed its status as Georgia's key trading partner. In January, Georgian exports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $74.87 million, which is 18.5% of the country's total exports for the month. This allowed Kyrgyzstan to overtake Azerbaijan ($46.24 million), Kazakhstan ($45.18 million), Armenia ($36.41 million) and Russia ($34.03 million).
In January-February 2025, exports from Georgia to Kyrgyzstan reached $166.6 million, which is 19.9% of the country's total exports for this period, the Georgian website commersant.ge reports. Thus, Kyrgyzstan topped the top three largest exporters, ahead of Kazakhstan ($100.7 million) and Azerbaijan ($97.7 million).
Passenger cars make up the bulk of exports, indicating the significant role of re-exports in trade between the countries. According to data for 2024, car exports from Georgia to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $964 million, which is 91.8% of the total exports to this country, the Civil Georgia website states.
