Bishkek, June 25, 2025. /Kabar/. The World Championship in Mountain Sports Tourism, which was held from June 18, 2025, has ended in the Chunkurchak Gorge in Kyrgyzstan.
The Federation of Sports Tourism reported that this is the first event of this scale in the history of independent Kyrgyzstan, which brought together the strongest teams from around the world to compete in the skill of passing a difficult rock distance.
Following the results of the competition, the Kyrgyz team took second place in the overall team standings. Kyrgyz athletes lost only to the Russian team, which became the leader of the tournament. The third place was taken by the Kazakhstan team.
"This championship has become a real holiday for us. We have not only shown the strength of our athletes, but also revealed to the world the beauty of our mountains and the potential of sports tourism in the country. This is a bright event that united athletes from all over the world and glorified Kyrgyzstan," said Erdenet Kasymov, Director of the Department of Tourism.
According to Vladimir Agafonov, President of the Federation of Sports Tourism of Kyrgyzstan, the strongest teams from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan took part in the championship. Each team consisted of 10 or more athletes.
