Bishkek, July 4, 2025 /Kabar/. Two power plants with a capacity of 300 MW each will be built in Kyrgyzstan: solar and wind, the National Investment Agency said.

The ceremonial signing of the investment agreement and additional agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and Shenzhen Energy Group Co., Ltd. took place at the agency’s site.

The documents were signed by the Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic Taalaibek Ibraev and a representative of Shenzhen Energy Group Co., Ltd.

"This important step is aimed at implementing a strategic project in the field of green energy, which is part of the country's long-term program for the development of sustainable and environmentally friendly energy sources. As part of the project, two power plants with a capacity of 300 MW each will be built in Kyrgyzstan: solar and wind," the National Agency noted.

In his speech, the Minister of Energy emphasized that work on the implementation of these projects will begin in September of this year, and both power plants are planned to be commissioned in 2026.

"This project not only contributes to the modernization of the energy infrastructure, but also meets modern environmental challenges. The implementation of such initiatives in the field of green energy is of strategic importance for the country, strengthens energy security and promotes sustainable development," said Taalaibek Ibraev.

Director of the National Investment Agency Farkhat Iminov noted that this agreement is an important step both for the development of the energy sector and for the sustainable economic growth of the Kyrgyz Republic. "It is important that this agreement reflects not only economic interest, but also the country's desire for an ecological transformation of the economy," he said.

The implementation of this significant project became possible during the official visit of President Sadyr Zhaparov to China in February 2025, where important investment agreements in the energy sector were signed.

The project will strengthen economic ties between the Kyrgyz Republic and the People's Republic of China, create new jobs and provide a significant contribution to the development of environmentally friendly energy, the report said.
