Kyrgyzstan’s Chui region breaks world records for tomato harvest

Bishkek, Aug. 25, 2025 /Kabar/. Zhaiyl district of Chui region of Kyrgyzstan breaks world records for tomato yield, the press service of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of the country reported.

According to the ministry, Heinz and Yesesem tomatoes were planted there on an area of ​​270 hectares, while the yield was 120 tons per hectare. In the world, the highest yield is traditionally collected in North America - up to 90 tons per hectare.

The bulk of the harvest is sent for processing - for the production of sauces, ketchups and other products. The remaining part is intended for export. Modern agricultural technologies were used in growing tomatoes, including an automated drip irrigation system, the report said.

In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture noted that, the harvesting process is also automated - for this purpose, a special tomato harvester was brought from Italy.
