Bishkek, Aug. 25, 2025 /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan's Zhantoro Mirzaliev won the title of World Champion among youth in the weight category up to 67 kg in Greco-Roman wrestling in Bulgaria.
The State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that in the first match of the tournament he defeated Belarusian wrestler Ikhar Zvarykin with a score of 9:0. Then, in the 1/8 finals, Mirzaliev defeated Swiss Robin Brunner with a score of 8:0 and advanced to the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinals, the Kyrgyzstani defeated Iranian wrestler Hossein Abdovali with a score of 5:3, and in the semifinals he defeated Uzbek Fayozbek Eshmirzaev with a score of 5:1, securing his place in the finals.
In the decisive fight, Mirzaliev met with Russian Erza Zakriev, the 2024 World and European Youth Champion. In a tense fight, Zhantoro Mirzaliev won with a score of 3:2, winning the gold medal and the title of World Youth Champion. Thanks to this victory, Zhantoro Mirzaliev became the sixth Kyrgyzstani to win the title of World Champion in Greco-Roman wrestling.
