Bishkek, Nov. 20, 2025. /Kabar/. President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Masato Kanda visited on Wednesday a depot in Bishkek where 120 battery-electric buses procured under an ADB project are now fully operating, along with two modernized depots.
Kanda wrote on social networks that the Kyrgyz capital is taking real, practical steps toward cleaner air, more reliable mobility, and greener development.
"ADB is preparing to scale up this model to Karakol City, expanding green and inclusive urban transport across the Kyrgyz Republic," he wrote.
Under the ADB’s Urban Transport Electrification Project, funding was provided for the purchase of 120 electric buses and the modernization of two bus depots. The total project financing amounts to 50 million US dollars.
Masato Kanda arrived in Bishkek on November 19 for a working visit to participate in the 24th Ministerial Conference of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) titled "Green and Digital CAREC."
